Vehicle Story
Triumph released the Stag in 1970 as a 2+2 sports tourer with styling from Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, who can claim fame to some of the Ferraris, Maseratis and Lancias of the time.
By the time 1970 rolled around the Stag was 2 years late, being fashionably late however, didn’t dampen British spirit around the car and there was a 12-month waiting list in place for orders with cars being exchanged for well above list price. When the car hit its main target market in the US it was plagued with reliability issues due in part to some engineering decisions.
Despite this reputation following the car, if properly maintained, they are perfectly reliable and dependable cars. If the engines and cooling systems have been looked after they can provide a joyful ownership experience.
